It is less than a week until our departure for a South Seas, New Zealand and Australian adventure that ends in Hong Kong. The only places I will have visited before are Sydney, Australia; Bali and Hong Kong.
Michael and I are leaving here for the Los Angeles cruise port of San Pedro on January 4. Los Angeles is only two and a half hours and one time zone away from Denver so there will be no jet lag involved.
It has been below freezing in Boulder for the past week. I am looking forward to temperatures in the sixties, Fahrenheit, at the outset, and steadily increasing warmth every day. In a week – Niku Hiva, French Polynesia! The temperature will be cool when we get to Southern New Zealand and again at Hong Kong. Otherwise, it will be mostly tropical. What a wonderful way to spend the U.S. winter.
We fly back from Hong Kong February 25. Fifty-two days will be the longest I have ever been away from home. We will travel almost 18,000 miles by ship and more than 8000 miles by airplane. That is enough distance to circumnavigate the globe at the equator.
I am taking along my aging laptop computer. We will have Internet access (for a fee) most of the time so I should be able to keep you apprised of my adventures.
